Spaghetti and Meatballs on a Stick

Not to make light of the Katrina situation...but a few of you requested a picture of the "Spaghetti and Meatballs on a Stick" from the Minnesota State Fair.

For the record, I did not try one. I was going to buy a ball...but then I threw up a little in my mouth and...well...I can do what I want, so I didn't buy one. I did chat with one of the workers, however. Here's how one creates the "Spaghetti and Meatballs on a Stick."

1. Mix the meatball up and add the spaghetti noodles INTO the mix.

2. Add about two more servings per meatball, as it's the fair, and everything has to be XL at the fair.

3. Dip the ball mass in garlic batter and deep fry it.

4. Let it sit in a warming light until some poor sap in a fanny pack and dark socks says, "Mmmm I'll have that one."

5. Coat/dip the entire thing in marinara sauce and hand it over.

6. Watch the people consume it in 4 seconds.

7. Notice the snobby lawyer-chick from South Dakota over at the cheese curd booth sneering at the nastiness of the Spaghetti and Meatballs while she coats her own hand with fried cheese grease.

8. Laugh at the irony.

It was a fun trip.

I seriously felt my throat close up when I saw them dip the ginormous orb into marinara sauce. The ball was large and not in charge.

Glad to be back.

Hey, thanks for the photo Skog. Spin, Minispin and I went to the Central States Fair on Saturday...no S&M on a stick there. Sounds like is is just as well too.

Interesting to note - food at the Minnesota State Fair was less expensive than food (in general) at the Central States Fair.

Case in Point - deep fried Twinkies at the Central States Fair were $4 and at the Minnesota State Fair they were 3 for $6.

The MiniSpinny credit goes to Owl. He gave the little darlin that nickname about three and a half years ago when she certainly could have answered the question, 'When does life actually begin'.
