Starship played at the Deadwood Jam in 1997… ya that’s it. Starship was the big headliner band. Sept I didn’t know who starship was at the time. (I know… don’t stack me) They started singing “We Built this City” then they did “Nothings Gonna Stop Us” I though to my self… “How lame, who would cover this song?” I think I even said that out loud.
Here comes the really sad part.
After it was all over a friend of mine (who coincidently I haven’t seen in 3 years, and he walked into my office today… weird!) was really, really stoked because he was going to get there autograph after the show. I was still unimpressed because I DIDN’T KNOW WHO THEY WERE!!! I scoffed at him rolled my eyes and passed up the opportunity to get my very own Starship autograph. Oh the woes of being young and naive.

How can you not realize where these life changing lyrics come from?
I recognized them I just didn’t grip the fact that the geniuses behind the songs were actually right there in front of me. It’s not something I am proud of, but that doesn’t make the story it any less true.
