this is scary! and it sucks!
Welcome to our living room. You'll find it takes a certain "bonkers" way of thinking about things to hang out here. No one will ever ask you to leave, but you might feel uncomfortable being here if "our tribe don't dig your vibe." The emphasis is on creativity, spontaneity, and improvisation. Most of us know each other here. Many of us are related. We use aliases just for the hell of it.

I'm just curious, is there any other state where "performing an abortion, except to save the life of the mother" is illegal?
Would good ol' god fearing S.D. be the first?
SD is the first state. It's step one in an attempt to dismantle Roe v. Wade.
Other states are watching to see how this all flies...then expect the next conservative state with little or no number of clinics offering abortion to follow suit. (Ex: ND, Wyoming)
I've been seeing this coming for months. The irony is, most South Dakotans don't agree with these nut cases. Somehow, the word needs to get out that if they keep this up, they won't be voted back in (not that half of them would care... this is their only issue... it's like a crusade.)
Utah, by the way is the only State with a lower abortion rate than SD. In other words, abortion is already so "not-a-problem" is SD. There are far more miscarriages here than abortions (15% vs 9% of all pregnancies).
I think are less than 700 abortions in SD each year, and of those, only 4 or so were paid for by tax dollars. And yet, you would think it's the biggest problem we have. I don't get it.
Here Here!
Looks like South Dakota is only one of five.
I think we were the first state to propose the legislation.
However, note who the other states are that have joined SD.
