I know we talked about this already

The ice phenomena hasn't stopped happening. Every time I fill the tray cause I'm excited about what I'm gonna get to see when I reach for the newly frozen ice. This morning was the best soo far by a long shot... Check it out.

I'm fascinated at how fascinated you are at the ice sculpturitos.

It's because the water freezes from the bottom up...effectively freezing the middle and sides at the same time. Therefore, the remaining water around the middle is pushed up while the edges are freezing...hence the spikes.

Even so, it's strange the way it gets pointy like that. It must pile up from inside the cone, huh? The very tip
top must be the last drop to escape befor the core of the cone freezes shut.

I bet it takes 9 hours, 9 minutes and 9.9 seconds to make one of those things.

Skogg. Whenever you have multiple bananas dancing on this thing they all jump at once. Same with my hiccups. It's a pain in the ass. Let's tell Spin we want them to be more random, like popcorn.

Cry me a river, build a bridge and get over it, Owl.

There is no way I can randomize it... you’re gonna have to deal!

I'm telling you that this happens every time I fill the tray! I love it and I DO look forward to what it will look like after I fill up. I here declare that I will keep posting the interesting ones as long as you folks don’t mind.

Oh and the other thing is that those spire things melt really fast. It always takes me a minute to get ready to shoot them so when I take them right out of the freezer they are always bigger.

I sure wish that when I see three Skogg bananas dancing they didn't all do the same dance at the same time.

Sorry, Skleeve...but that's the phenomenon. It doesn't happen to every ice cube, because not all freezers freeze the water that fast, and not all ice cubes have the coldest areas in the same place.

WHEN they freeze from a space other than the top, the spires start.

Look it up if you'd like.

It doesn’t only happen in one part of the tray, I’d say on average it happens to about 5 or 6 cubes. Usually there are levels of unevenness where the two cubes come together. Those spots don’t make spires, but they do make a hill if you will. I just filled the tray, next time I pull it out I will take a shot of the whole tray and show it to you all!
I’m glad you guys are fascinated by it as much as I am.

And owl, I can not make the images animate at different times. It has to do with the fact that the images are cashed, and every time the image is called up by the browser it calls up the same image. The only way around it would be for me to make multiple images and then before you guys posted every time you would have to go into your settings and reset what image you wanted to be your icon for that post…. Sounds like way to much work for me Owl.

The test would be for Spin to always put the ice trays into the freezer the exact same way, maybe 5 times in a row, and then photograph the result when the trays come out. See if the same cubes do a similar thing each time.

I know you can't do it Spin, Skogg would have to do it. She should have at least 3 different banana dances and 3 proflies from which to log in.
If she's going to post multiple times in a row, she has to change to a different dance. This would be true of me as well, but fortunately, a series of simultaneous Owl hiccups are not nearly as annoying to me as are a column of syncopated dancing bananas. Besides, Skogg changes her personality all the time anyway.

sugok (sounds norway to me)

By the way, Chop was great in his play and the house was sold out on a Thursday night. My two fave parts were Dylan stacking Marian Reed all the time and the Preachers sermon while the "choir" played cards.

I actually wanted to get a new icon...the banana really doesn't capture my essence anymore. However, I have to wait until I "feel" the power of the new icon.

As for a link about the ice, Skleeve...Spin and I posted about this phenomenon several months ago. If I have some time, I'll search through the archives and let you know which post it was.

Of course, that's been our theory all along Etunk, but these yourng people seem to have a hard time getting any traction with the TLP concept. Go figure.

Hey Skogg, don't get me wrong, here. I would miss the dancing Banana. I'm just jerking your chain about the "line dancing". I would hate to be the one who trashed one of the spave's most enduring and endearing icons.

Mosahr sounds like he would be wise beyond his years.

The name also sounds like it would be most effective if constantly used in the third person

Example: Mosahr will be in Rapid City for Christmas.

Fri Nov 18, 12:13:00 PM MST
Blogger Bill Fleming said...

Mosahr sounds like son of Mogur from Clan of Cave Bear. One step evolved.

Fri Nov 18, 01:28:00 PM MST
Blogger EThunk said...

So is it Moshar and his tidy little profits that make the ice cubes dance up their pointy little hats?

Fri Nov 18, 01:49:00 PM MST
Blogger Sarah said...

I'm fairly certain that Mosahr is wiser than Dr. Van Skleeve.

Skoggle appreciates Mosahr's mention that Skoggle is wise as well.

Skoggle's minions will present Mosahr with gifts of glory and festivus.

Skoggle needs a nap.

Moshar and his Tidy Little Prophes can command the cosmos if they so choose. But they prefer to take on smaller projects, mainly to attract and baffle people they enjoy. They are the finest group of mystics who actually invented the concepts of humor and irony.

obdymypi (...far out!)

Skleeve should look closer at the ice tray, notice that the centers of all the sections are raised, and recall that water went in level.

Something is making the water stand up. Could be meat, could be cake. Could be meatcake.

...or M & the TLPs!

The winner shall get a piece of donkey fried chicken.

Commence the contest! I do want a new icon. I do! I do!!

And it's unbecoming to point out that I was gloating. I was not gloating...I was doing the "I told you so" dance.

There is a time for everything under heaven...including a time to "I told you so" dance.
